National Arts Competition:

What “BLACK LIVES MATTER” Means to Me!

A VIRTUAL SHOWCASE

The Society, Incorporated presented a virtual showcase featuring our 2020 winners. Young artists, ages 13-18, from around the country competed in five artistic genres — Instrumental, Vocal Arts, Literary, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts. The competition theme, “What BLACK LIVES MATTER Means to Me!,” was inspired by the civil uprising in the aftermath of George Floyd’s senseless murder. Captured on video – his death inflamed the outraged of people and raised the global consciousness that “Black Lives Matter.”

The Society, Incorporated is a non-profit national organization of women dedicated to enhancing, exposing, and promoting children in the arts for the betterment of our communities. Please consider making a donation to support our efforts for youths in the arts in communities nationwide.

“The difference between science and the arts is not that they are different sides of the same coin ... or even different parts of the same continuum, but rather, they are manifestations of the same thing. The arts and sciences are avatars of human creativity.”

— Mae Jemison, First African-American Woman in Space
