On behalf of the National Executive Board and Greater Detroit hostess chapter, I am delighted to invite you to join us, April 4-7, 2019, for our 17th National Conference. Detroit has a “supreme cultural experience” in store for us! The city has transformed its business, dining, entertainment, sports arenas and cultural institutions into world class venues. The Greater Detroit Chapter is anxious to engage you as they spotlight some of the city’s wonderful, iconic music and artistic treasures.
Our Conference will be held at the historic Westin Book Cadillac Hotel located at 1114 Washington Blvd. in downtown Detroit. Travel from Detroit Metro Airport to the hotel takes about 40 minutes, and should be factored into your schedule.
On Thursday morning, April 4th, the National Executive Board will meet from 8:00 – 9:45 A.M. Immediately following, we’re offering a dual track of Society operational workshops and personal empowerment sessions for women. Topics will address resources and skills needed to help run your chapters more efficiently and effectively. Other sessions will help you assess and unleash your best innermost talents, confidence and leadership potential.
I know that you’ll be motivated by these unique opportunities to bond while learning! Thursday afternoon we will continue open communication and dialogue during the President’s Forum with chapter presidents. We will focus on “Protecting Our Brand through Ethics and Standards.”
In addition to the two required delegates per chapter, it’s critical that as many officers and members as possible attend this 17th National Conference. We will address several key National Constitution and Bylaws changes that will affect future policies, structure, the financial base and administrative practices of our organization. Delegates will also elect new national officers and NEB members who will take the helm and lead us to our next level of excellence.
Travel Alert: To take full advantage of Thursday morning’s NEB meeting, workshops and forums, please arrange your travel plans to arrive at the hotel on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. The host chapter will share available ground transportation options in future Conference Updates. Keep in mind that the Conference is designed for the entire membership, not only the NEB and delegates. Let’s continue to build and maintain the strong bond among and between our local chapters and the board – which represents your interests. Come in record numbers, make your voices heard, and let us make this one of the best attended conferences ever!
